Lakeside calm, close to the city
The Villa and Rantasauna stand on the lakeshore, both built from laminated logs by Kuusamo Log Houses. The Villa has room for up to six guests. Rantasauna is heated with wood, and between rounds in the sauna you can go for a swim. You can fish for perch from the shore with a rod and line, and go ice fishing in winter – neither needs a permit. End the evening on the terrace with a cold drink, listening to the lapping of the waves.
Villa Rantapuisto is in Saaristokaupunki, Kuopio. The bus stop is a couple of minutes' walk away, and the bus gets you into the centre in 20–25 minutes.
Kuopio in every season
In July a cruise takes you on a day trip to Hietasalo island, with its lean-to and campfire site. In autumn the mushroom forests of Jynkänvuori are close by. In winter KalPa play ice hockey at Olvi Areena, and the smoke sauna evenings at Jätkänkämppä run all year round.
